"I started reaching out to schools and nonprofits that I though would let us distribute food on their site. I couldn't imagine anyone not partnering with us," recalled Andreason, the director of Food and Nutrition Services for Rescue Union School District. We just need to feed kids."
One of those sites was White Rock Village, a property of Mercy Housing in El Dorado Hills that provides affordable housing to create stable and healthy communities by developing, financing and operating affordable, program-enriched housing for families, seniors and people with special needs who lack the economic resources to access quality, safe housing opportunities.
"When I got Kim's voice message I knew we had to partner," Eddie Zacapa, a resident services coordinator at the property said. "Every summer Rescue Union School District provides a summer lunch program on our site, so it made sense to do this here."
