For a parent who just had a baby born prematurely, knowing how to navigate through this time at the hospital and the Neonatol Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is very valuable. Having experienced some time with both my children in the NICU, I definitely see the value in providing more information to help parents work through this delicate time.
Baby First is a website that reaches out to parents and families of "preemies." It talks about what to expect with a premature baby and shares inspirational stories of kids who have gone on to live healthy and successful lives.
The website also gives parents more information on what to expect if their baby is to spend time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). A baby may stay days, weeks or longer in the NICU. It talks about possible treatments that the baby may undergo and what the functions of many of the machines are.
Stories & Testimonials
It even has parents stories and testimonials to encourage parents who are going through this situation. I encourage you to check out the stories, the website and be inspired. Even if you do not have a preemie you can be inspired by these amazing stories.
