The Power of Gratitude

The practice of expressing gratitude and being thankful is a choice that unleashes positive energy into our lives. Many psychologists agree that gratitude is the healthiest human emotion. Hans Seyle claimed that gratitude produces more emotional energy than any other emotion.

Focusing on things that you are grateful for will put things in perspective and change your mood. It keeps you from thinking negative. It produces inspiration and motivation to focus on the positive and nurture the things that really matter to us.

Gratitude can also lift our spirit when trials come and keep us from discouragement. Melody Beattie said, "Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, and confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."
