Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

Executive Director Takes on Challenge
Matt Huckabay, executive director of The Center for Violence-Free Relationships, prepares to walk a mile in high heels. The Center is hosting the event Walk a Mile in Her Shoes on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Placerville Town Hall. The event will be held at 549 Main Street in Placerville, CA.

The Event
There is an old saying: "You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes." The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event asks men to literally walk one mile in women's high-heeled shoes. By having men take on this challenge it gets people in the community talking about the important issue of sexual assualt and what we can do to prevent it from happening in our communities.

Huckabay and others hopes to raise $25,000 for The Center's sexual assualt prevention programs. If you are in the area and able to attend you can call 530-626-1450 to sign up. If you are not in the area you can look for your local domestic violence center and see if they are hosting their own event. Come out and raise awareness in your community about this serious issue.
