Virtual Volunteering to Help Your Community in Your Pajamas

shelter in place in California
Things have definitely changed in our world in the past few weeks. As most of us are sheltered in place or staying home to keep ourselves and others safe it may be hard to navigate things, much less, know how to volunteer.

I, personally, have found that if I am contributing in some way to make life better for others I feel a shift occur inside me. I am still going to work because I am essential worker and my need to contribute and support others is fulfilled when I do that. I am partnering with local churches, nonprofit organizations, schools, food banks and individuals who are delivering or donating food. I have seen the smiles and joy that comes for these individuals, whether they are working or volunteering.

So, when I saw that Volunteer Match was offering virtual opportunities to volunteer I got excited to share them. There are opportunities to make face masks, create cards for kids, greeting cards for hospice patients, social media positions, web development opportunities and more.

And if that is not enough, you can also volunteer with Soldiers Angels, an organization that has been doing virtual-focused volunteering for the past 17 years. They support service members and veterans and have many opportunities such as making masks, baking cookies, writing letters, sewing blankets, and making bracelets. You can check them out at www.soldiersangels.org.

Go and make a difference!
